Police arrest peddler in Sopore | KNO

Srinagar, Jun 28 (KNO): Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police on Saturday said to have arrested a drug peddler in Sopore and recovered contraband substance from his possession. “A police party of Police Station Bomai during naka checking at Bun Astan Tujjer intercepted a suspicious person. During checking, Charas like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Irfan Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Majeed Sheikh resident of Panzipora Tarzoo. He has been arrested and shifted to a police station where he remains in custody,” a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 34/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Bomai and further investigation is underway to trace the source and wider network involved. J&K Police reiterated its firm commitment to combating drug trafficking and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. “Together, we can ensure a drug-free and safer society,” police said—(KNO)
